What’s the earliest we can start cleaning children’s teeth?

Right now! We recommend that you start to clean a little tooth as soon as it appears. Do it in the morning and in the evening with the softest infant sized toothbrush or simply with a damp gauze pad. You will do it pretty much because of oral hygiene, but with a great deal to make a habit of cleaning and to teach your child that it is important to take care of oral hygiene.

How are the teeth washed with gauze?

Quite simply! Take a small piece of gauze moistened with clean water and then rub the tooth from the edge of the gums upward both from visible and inner side. It’s enough to repeat the process 6 or 7 times and the situation will be much better.

Of course, you can use a specialized brush which fits the finger and also acts as a good massager. The youngest ones will find it amusing as they can play with the brush and get used to it at the same time.

Be careful! Do not introduce toothpaste before your child is 2 years old. Even then, start with the minimum amount of infant toothpaste so there’s no way to swallow it.

If you really want to help your children have healthy habits of oral hygiene, then give them a good example and make every cleaning funny with a song or a ritual that they like. Day by day it will get easier. Good luck!
